Are you a Green Bunny?

I wish I was greener. I wish I did more for the environment. For 2008 I have made a vow not to collect or be given any more plastic shopping bags.

We know that plastic shopping bags are bad. We know that they take 20 to 1000 years to break down and each bag we use only adds to the problem – because the bags simply accumulate. Unfortunately we cannot escape the fact that plastic shopping bags have a large detrimental effect on the environment.

So – in an effort to help inspire you to not use any more plastic shopping bags - I have made an alternative shopping bag - the Green Bunny Bag.
The bag is made from sturdy calico (15"w x 16"h) and folds down to 4”x4” to neatly sit in the bottom of your handbag.
If anyone tries to give you a plastic bag again – whip out the Green Bunny Bag – refuse the plastic bag – and try to inspire someone else to do the same.

To win this bag in my green bunny giveaway– please leave a comment on this post before 12 noon EST on Valentines Day! (I'll send the Green Bunny Bag to you no matter were you live but please include your URL or an email address or some way I can contact you in your comment.)

Hello
oooooh that little green bunny sillouette is so adorable, yes pretty pleeeeease do enter me in for a chance to take it shopping with me.
On the subject of bags, I have recently moved to a new town and have discovered that there is a "Town Charter" drawn up with the majority of shop holders to try and elimiate plastic bags from our town, it is fabulous, I was made to feel very bad in the supermarket for sheepishly asking for a bag when I had forgotten to bring my own!
I have been looking for a lovely alternative that folds down small enough to fit into my handbag and your green rabbit would be oh-so-perfect!
Have a lovely day

This is so cute and folds away perfectly small. I wonder if any handbag designers are considering building an additional inside pocket (similar to those for mobile phones) for reuseable totes. It might be a nice idea and a matching tote might even be included.

By offering this bag you not only encourage others to be a little greener...but in the process to be a little nicer and a little more generous, too. Love the ripple effect .

You did a great job with this adorable bag. I have one reusable bag that I made from fusing plastic newspaper bags and sewing them into a grocery tote, but I really need more than one bag - I'd love to get one of these!

What an adorable design! I think I've fallen in love. I'd love to be entered for a chance to win one! I've been wanting to switch over to reusable bags when I go grocery shopping. The grocery store where I live has decided that everything has to be bagged in plastic, and on top of that, they bag things so that there's only one to four things per bag. I feel like I'm killing them environment every week. This would be a fantastic alternative.

Love the bags! I made a similar pledge this year. Our Kroger has been selling reusable bags. I bought 4, but they're definitely not as cute (or foldable) as yours. For every reusable bag you use (doesn't matter what kind), you get $.04 back. I'll actually EARN money this year.

I came to the internet seeking a pattern for reusable grocery bags & found your Green Bunny. Our toddler likes rabbits, so this bag will be easy for him to remember, too. Maybe this seems like an obvious question, but. . . if we don't throw our trash in reused plastic sacks, do we just dump it straight into the garbage can?

These bags are so cute! I constantly find myself forgetting my green bags when I go shopping, but if I can show off my bunny pride with every purchase I doubt I'd forget them. I'd love to be entered in your raffle. My 4 house rabbits would appreciate it! aloha420wsm[at]tmail[dot]com

I am also trying to be more green this year. I feel really good knowing that so many people care about our planet and the future of our children and that we're all trying in our own way. I think one of the easiest things to do is what you're doing by not using any more plastic bags. Your bag is not only cute but it's cool, too! I wouldn't mind using one like it!.....analilia

perfect for low impact consumption! here is a survival kit repost from the ID project:
"Low Impact Survival Kit

One of the big insights that came from those of us who did the practice last time was that if you started out with a few key pieces of equipment, which you carried at all times, it became really easy to cut down on waste and actually saved money too.

Drink bottle : mason jar, canteen, what have you, but try to avoid plastic since they are suspected of leaching chemicals and are generally less environmentally friendly

Container for food/left-overs: tiffin box, tupperware, fabric wrappers

Shopping bag: nylon, canvas, string bags

Chopsticks, silverware: bamboo and eco-plastics

Cloth napkin

Handkerchief"

pretty cool, eh?
