Jenny and Scott get married ....

I hear that the chuppah was well received at Jenny and Scott's wedding - and I am so pleased that I was able to contribute towards their big day. Megan's own wedding photographer Luke Walker has very kindly put some information about me on his blog http://www.lukewalkerphotography.com/blog/

Megan - who seems to be my new personal PR magnate - also wrote a lovely comment about the chuppah:
This was the most amazing chuppah creation I could have ever imagined. The bride and groom (as well as the parents)were in tears. There was a particularly beautiful part of the ceremony where the rabbi asked the bride and groom to look up at the chuppah and see all the messages of love and support that their family and friends had made. Rachael's work was creative (incorporating the bride's wishes as well as her own aesthetic suggestions), absolutely beautiful (outside in Vail, against the green Rockies), and impeccably done (every square set off with individually chosen fabric and every seam perfectly stitched). As the bride's mother said, Rachael has created an heirloom. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I hope to be able to post more photos of the chuppah on my website soon.

Betty Bunny gets a summer dress .....

I am still enjoying knitting soft toys ...... I want to introduce you to Betty Bunny

I was worried that Betty (although she looks quite well fed) looked a tad ..... dare I say it .... Bunny naked .... so I made her a little cotton summer dress.

Betty didn't stay in New York very long until she was shipped to Chula Vista, California in her little gift bag.

Jenny and Scott's Chuppah

My dear friend Megan asked me to make Jenny & Scott's Chuppah for their wedding on June 29th. I have been so excited to be involved. Invited guests were sent a 7"x7" square and asked to decorate it in some way. These squares were then sewn together. Jenny also provided some Japanese fabrics that she wanted incorporated into the Chuppah. Your wedding day is such an enormous life event - and because of this production has been a nerve wracking experience - and I just hope that Jenny & Scott enjoy the finished product. I'll post some more photos soon .......

About Rachael Rabbit

Rachael Rabbit was a hand made toy rabbit given to me when I was really young. Rachael Rabbit came with me everywhere - she was my best friend and companion - I was very protective of her - and was constantly terrified of losing her and in fact I wasn't entirely sure how I would cope with life without her.

Now I am older and Rachael Rabbit is too - in her travels she developed some matted fur (from too much snuggling and kissing), lost an eye (a dreadful tale) and some other injuries were also endured - all but her missing eye were lovingly repaired by my mother while I looked on - worried that Rachael Rabbit might not make it through the operation .....

After so many years with Rachael Rabbit - it amazes me how this hand made gift has been more important to me than many other things that have passed through my life so far. She is a treasure - she now sits, retired from snuggling (I don't wish to harm her anymore) - next to Teddy (my 1st true love).

There is something about hand made things - they contain so much love and effort - they carry beauty alone just because of this.
